Angel's Birthday
Two Months Continued...

Two Months
These two photos sum up the past month pretty well. Truth is always staring at people like she is trying to figure them out.

The second photo caught her in a moment of squirming. Always squirming, reaching, pulling, kicking and rolling.

And Hephzibah and I? We continue to learn how much it requires to be parents.

Sugar Factory
Today, Hephzibah, Truth and I went to visit Premila Auntie (Hephzibah's mothers youngest sister) and her family near the sugar factory. She lives in a village that is specifically for the employees of the factory.

After a nice lunch, I went with the boys down the street towards the sugar factory. I was informed that the machines are only running for six months a year. This is the off-season. Sugar cane harvest starts in October. So, we got to walk around in a quiet, huge factory all to ourselves. The last photo, well, it was some huge broken thing all stacked up on itself.

Hephzibah, Childhood
I brought my scanner along with me to Karnataka to get some older photos of Hephzibah and her family.

Belgaum
Angel (Hephzibah's sister) and I went to Belgaum market today. We had a couple things to pick up but the most important thing was needing to get Hephzibah's mangalsutra repaired. A mangalsutra is a marriage necklace, instead of a ring. Anyways, Angel and I got to walk around one of my favorite markets in India for a couple hours. After dropping off the necklace, we made our way to the best egg pattie man. An egg pattie is the perfect snack between meals. The outside is a flaky croissant and the inside is a spiced hardboiled egg. You gotta eat two or three to get the desired effect.

The next photo is a shop selling rakhi braclets. These are given during the holiday of Raksha Bandhan, from sister to brother. The sister will tie the bracelet on her brother's arm and the brother promises to protect his sister. These temporary shops were everywhere on this market visit.

We also picked up a couple nice inexpensive jackets for Truth, which will come in handy with the colder weather in Karnataka. In the next photo, you will see a jacket that came with matching hat and socks. I will call this her gorilla outfit from now on.

After getting home around 6pm, I instructed Hephzibah's brothers on the fine art of playing bootleg Nintendo games on the computer.

Today was a nice day to go out and get some things done. No family came over to visit today. I am being prepared/warned that many people will be coming over starting Thursday. It is nice to have a couple days rest here before things get more crazy.

Karnataka, Wet
We are visiting Hephzibah's family in Karnataka. We took a five hour bus ride through fog and rain. While waiting at the bus station we got soaked, even with rain jackets on. Then we sat in the bus, soaked. Truth slept the whole way, dry in her many blankets. After arriving at our destination and a change of clothing, we had a nice egg curry lunch.
