MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN

We've been working our way through the book of Daniel on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the center. It has been amazingly enjoyable. This afternoon, I was snapping some boring photos on the beach of coconut trees. (There is no photo within this post, imagine coconut trees.) Well, after some excessive editing, the result was this. I'm not quite sure why, but this image frightened me. I almost hit undo to have another go at it. Now it reminds me of chapter five in Daniel and I'm not quite sure why. I asked my buddy, Rich, if this image still counts as a photograph even though it is so far removed from the original source. He said yes. Rich works in New York so he knows how to answer complex questions like this.

Beachy Blurry

We are experiencing the subtle shift of tourism, from foreigners to Indians on holiday. Most Indian children have off from school for the next two months.

Near That Church On The Hill

We had another busy week with not so many opportunities to take snaps. Being Saturday, Hephzibah and I went for a short trip to a favorite spot, an old church on a hill. Always a nice view of what's going on down below. And this nice flowering tree.

Drag

It has been a strange ten days, since last posting. It has kept me away from updating.

This kid was awesome.

Tourists

I guess I've been here long enough that I can start laughing at the silly tourists and the silly things they do. Here is the New Age variety. The woman on the right was guide for one hour of some activity closely resembling follow the leader. I only wish I knew how much money was thrown down the toilet for this degree of enlightenment.

The Third

This may be the last one for now. For whatever reason, each one of these photos keeps taking more and more time to get to a place where I am happy with it. I almost gave up on this one then I figured out a satisfactory crop. This is Little Sangeeta. We have a couple Sangeetas to deal with so she gets the "Little" attached to her name. I singled her out during our children's meeting today and had her stand for a couple photos. If you could see her face, it is saying "why are you taking so many photos of me?"
